Terschelling XII

 the Mythic Gathering

GENERAL INFORMATION

The faerie gathering this year in Terschelling is our twelfth one there, our last having taken place in the summer of 2005. For those of you who have come to love the unique spirit and beauty of this flat North Sea island and for those of you who would like to experience it, we offer this gathering.

The faeries are spirits awakened and awakening to the unlimited and unbound possibilities of the sacredness of their sexual identity in particular and their global identity in general.  We the faeries like to come together in gatherings to create safe space for play, ritual, heart space, healing, and creative magic.

Our gatherings are free-flow and rely on spontaneous as well as planned fabulousness contributed by the participants. Anything and nothing can happen and expectations usually lead to disappointment. Openness is key, especially of the heart. This gathering is sex and gender inclusive.

On a practical level, meals, cleaning and other such contributions also arise from the group as needed.

The house we are renting called “De Wierschuur” is an old seaweed drying barn that has been converted to accommodate groups. It has a central space for activities with a large fireplace. We do not have permission to camp on the grounds. Sleeping accommodations consist of youth hostel type bunk beds in large rooms. The house is situated in front of the sea. Elsewhere on the island there are beaches with huge dunes, miles of bicycle paths, nature sanctuaries, and villages and towns. The gathering is clothing and drag optional.

To get to Terschelling, you need to first get to Harlingen Haven, the mainland port where you catch the ferry boat. From Amsterdam you can either take a train or a bus to Harlingen Haven (the train is recommended). It will take you about two hours to get to Terschelling from Harlingen Haven on the regular boat and 45 minutes on the fast one.  It takes about three hours and fifteen minutes to get from Amsterdam to Harlingen Haven by train. In total, you should count on around six hours to get from Amsterdam to Terschelling depending on connections.

The gathering is paid for by the participants. To cover costs we ask participants to pay between 30 and 50 euros per day depending on their financial capabilities. No one, however, shall be turned away for lack of money and the option of contributing work rather than money is a possibility.
